Definition of Moxie:

1. ENERGY, PEP - I was full of moxie after my Pilates/Barre class.

2. COURAGE, DETERMINATION - It takes moxie to try something new for the first time, but go on, do it for you…you deserve it!

3. KNOW-HOW - With a bit of moxie I can correctly perform an exercise and get more bang for my buck!

 

A little about me…

I’m Jana, a Canadian gal who has been living in NZ so long that I call myself a Caniwi (Canadian Kiwi). I have a Kiwi husband and 2 Caniwi kids, and we all love living in East Auckland. I love keeping active and healthy, but enjoy a balanced life - this girls gotta have her coffee and a treat now and then too. I like to live life with a bit of pep, know-how and determination, so I guess you can say I like to live life with a bit of Moxie!

It took a bit of time to get up the moxie to switch careers from teaching high school to running my own Pilates and Barre company, but once I took that leap of faith I knew I had made the right decision - I love what I do! Then there was the whole trying to find a name thing, which took a little while until I stumbled upon the name Moxie and then I knew it had to be the one! Even more so when I realised the coincidence of Moxie being a mash up of Mom (Canadian spelling of course!) and my daughters’ names Lexi and Sadie.

My Pilates journey started over 8 years ago when I was pregnant with my first daughter Lexi. My Pilates career started after the birth of my second daughter, when I was looking for a new direction and something that would fit around my family. The adventure continues with my two businesses Moxie Pilates and BumpYoga, which fulfil my love of teaching and my passion of connecting with other mums in the community. I love to teach and I love to learn, which means I am constantly convincing my husband that of course I need to complete another workshop and/or training course.

I have a relaxed and fun approach to my classes, and have been called entertaining and down-to-earth. Hey, if you can’t have fun and a bit of a laugh then what’s the point right? I love sharing my passion for Pilates and barre, and also love expanding the community I’m creating (which I like to call my Moxie mates) - come along and join our community if you’re keen to see what we’re all about!
